Summer temps have been heating up!
So I thought I'd share some fun hairstyle ideas that are both quick and easy.
Plus some tips to help make the styles last and go from day to night without much effort.
LOOSE / SIDE BRAIDS
If pigtail braids seem too "kiddish". Try your own
version of a classic style and start the braids below your ears,
keeping plenty of slack up top. Or try the off the shoulder look by
sweeping hair to one side and starting the braid behind the ear. To
make it extra loose and messy pull some strand out of the braid in
You don't need to be a princess to wear a crown of braids. This fun and
flirty style is perfect for day or night and can be done on almost any
length of hair. Style tip: Create two thin braids (individual or fresh
braids) at your temples, pull them back, and secure them with a hair tie
at the back of your head.
EASY HALF-UP HAIR
Not sure what to choose?… This give you the best of both worlds. To do it, pull just the top four or five inches of hair straight back
and twist it so the hair folds together. Fasten with a barrette or bobby
pins. This style can be worn with straight or curly hair. To give it a more
"done up" look fasten it with a flower or rhinestone hair pin.
When heat and humidity make it hard to style your hair, keep it cool and off your neck with a simple bun. Gather wet or damp hair at the nape of your neck, coil it around itself, and secure it into a sleek bun with a hair tie. Avoid hair spray! (the alcohol in it can cause frizz once your hair dries) To tame fly aways try misting shine spray on your fingers and skim it over problem areas.
In the mood for something a little more elegant? Try a sexy messy
undo. This style can be done working with natural textures in the hair,
or by adding texture using a large barrel curling iron. Pin up by
making loops with the hair and fastening them just above the nape of the
neck with bobby pins. Leave out as much or as little hair as you like.
To give any style more staying power try using thermal sprays before any heat styling. Also using texturizing powders and some good old fashioned back combing at the root can do wonders for all hair textures. Using less hair spray for all summer styles is a plus too. The alcohol in hair sprays dries creating more frizz in the hair. Try shine serums or sprays to finish your styles instead.
Some products I love:
*Moroccan Oil Light and Moroccan Oil Shine Spray.
Both give wonderful shine and control without adding too much weight to you hair.
*Schwarzkopf Dust It
Add lots of texture at the root for fullness and volume that will last all day.
*Eufora Sculpture Gel and Elevate Hair Spray
Both products give weightless hold that wont end up sticky and hard to work with as the day goes on.
